Dr. Frances (Fran) G. Smith, CVE (http://recognizingdifferences.com) has taught graduate coursework in UDL at GW University since 2003. She was a 2011-12 UDL post-doctoral fellow at CAST and Boston College Lynch School of Education. Dr. Smith represents The Vocational Evaluation and Career Assessment Professionals Association (VECAP) on the National UDL Taskforce and is a member of CAST's UDL Professional Learning Cadre. She has presented nationally and internationally on UDL, co-authored several national position papers on UDL in career assessment, and published research on UDL in higher education. Between 2013-15, she was a UDL consultant and Co-PI on the Global UDL Project with Dr. Evelyn Reed (Emerita Faculty, Retired) and doctoral students at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Dr. Smith and Dr. Reed received the 2015 Distinguished Leadership Award (https://dises-cec.org/site/awards/recipients/) from the CEC Division on International Special Education Services (DISES) for their work with this teacher preparation project with colleagues in Jamaica.
